VOLUNTEER WITH US

As a charitable organisation, we rely on volunteers to ensure we can deliver much needed support to women and people with perinatal mental health problems in our community.

Although we have two recruitment periods per year (spring and autumn), we welcome enquiries about volunteering at any time, so if you'd like to have a chat about getting involved, please get in touch! You can email or phone during our volunteer support office hours (Wed 9.30am-2.30pm).

*Recruitment is currently OPEN until 30th of January  2025 for this intake of volunteer group helpers and volunteer befrienders.

All our volunteers have access to induction and role-specific training, as well as ongoing support. Safeguarding training is mandatory, as well as a PVG check. We cover expenses for travel for volunteering purposes.

Become a Trustee

Nurture the Borders is looking for a small number of new trustees to join our Board and help guide the next stage of our work supporting parents and babies across the Scottish Borders.

For more than ten years we have walked alongside families through pregnancy, birth and early parenthood, providing compassionate, trauma-informed support tailored to the needs of each family. As demand for our services grows and the organisation continues to evolve, we are looking for thoughtful people who can bring their skills, experience and perspective to our board.

We are particularly interested in people who are kind, collaborative and willing to contribute, trustees who enjoy working as part of a team and who want to use their skills to support a small, ambitious and values-led charity.

You do not need to live in the Scottish Borders to join our board. Meetings can be attended online and we welcome trustees from further afield who share our commitment to supporting families.

If this sounds like something you would like to be part of, you can find more information about the role, the organisation and how to apply in the recruitment pack below.

If you would like an informal conversation before applying, we would be very happy to hear from you. Please contact us at info@nurturetheborders.com.

VOLUNTEER MUM BEFRIENDER ROLE

One to one emotional and practical support

Our volunteer mum befrienders play a very important role in supporting women who are having a difficult time during pregnancy or with a baby under 2 years old.

Are you a mum yourself (it doesn't matter how grown up your children are)?

Are you able to regularly give an hour or two of your time?

Do you have a caring, empathetic nature and are you a good listener?

Are you non judgmental and reliable?

YES!

This rewarding role could be the one for you.

VOLUNTEER GROUP HELPER

Group Support

Group Helpers are key to supporting women and people to feel comfortable at our perinatal support groups.

They help us set up and run our groups, welcome parents in, help settle people into the group, chatting with group members, make teas & coffee, and play with the little ones.
