Service Description
Nurture: Prepare for Birth is a practical 5-week antenatal course designed to help you feel informed, confident and prepared for birth. Each 90-minute class combines pregnancy-friendly movement, active birth preparation, breathing and hypnobirthing techniques, deep relaxation and up-to-date, evidence-based antenatal education. Our gentle yoga-based movement supports your changing pregnant body, encourages mobility and helps create space for baby to find a good position for birth. We’ll also explore and practise active birth positions and movement for labour, helping you discover ways to work with your body, movement and gravity during birth. You’ll learn breathing, relaxation and hypnobirthing techniques that you can practise during pregnancy and draw on during labour and birth. Alongside this, we’ll share practical tips and techniques to add to your birth toolkit. We’ll also explore labour, birth and your options through clear, evidence-based antenatal education. We don’t believe there is one “right” way to give birth. Instead, we want you to understand your choices, know the questions you can ask and feel confident taking an active part in decisions about your care. By the end of the five weeks, you’ll have built a practical birth toolkit: movement and positions you’ve actually practised, breathing and relaxation techniques that feel familiar, reliable information, practical tips and a greater understanding of your choices. Tools you can draw on however your birth journey unfolds. Classes are small and relaxed, with plenty of time to ask questions and connect with other local women and birthing people preparing for birth. Suitable from around 20 weeks until birth. Women and birthing people only. All birth choices supported. Classes are delivered by FEDANT-accredited antenatal educators and birth doulas. If you are employed, you are entitled to paid time off to attend these antenatal classes as part of your antenatal care pathway.
