Who can get  a  Mum  Befriender?

The Cherish Project's,  Mum Befriender Service is for women in their perinatal period. This is the time during pregnancy until your baby is about one.

You are eligible for this service if you live in the Scottish Borders and are struggling with your mental or emotional health and well-being or if you have been diagnosed with a low to moderate level perinatal mental illness (like postnatal depression or anxiety). We can also support mums when your personal circumstances mean you may be vulnerable to developing a perinatal mental illness.

The following questions may help you identify if the service is for you, however if you’re still not sure please get in touch and we can discuss your situation.

  • Are you concerned about depression/anxiety?

  • Are you worried about bonding with your baby?

  • Have you been diagnosed with mild to moderate perinatal mental illness?
