Who can get Support?

At the moment we can offe support to expectant or new parents living in the Scottish Borders area. 

 

Our service is there to  support mums with particular difficulties which make pregnancy, birth and life as a new mum more difficult than for someone else who does not face the same challenges. To give you an idea this might be mums who:

 

  • Are socially isolated

  • Have a health condition or disability

  • Have language/cultural barriers

  • Are planning a vaginal birth after cesearean

  • Previous birth trauma

  • Addiction difficulties

  • Domestic abuse/relationship difficulties

  • Previous still birth or neonatal loss

  • Expecting twins or triplets

  • Expecting a baby who has been diagnosed with a health problem

  • Experiencing mental or emotional difficulties (Including pre and post natal depression)

  • A single mum

  • Teenage mum

 

 

Support is tailored to your individual needs and may involve;

 

  • One to one sessions - at home or an agreed location

  • Group support 

  • Educational workshops

  • Activities (Massage for mum, baby massage or yoga, relaxation, art therapy, antenatal or postnatal movement class).
