The Cherish Project
Pregnancy and becoming a mum isn't always easy....
Having a baby is a big change and can be a bumpy ride, if you feel like you are struggling we might be able to help.
The Cherish Project is a Perinatal Support service set up for mums by mums. ‘Perinatal’ means the time from when you become pregnant until the time your baby turns one.
The Cherish Project offers support to mums during this time if you are struggling with your mental or emotional health and well-being or if you has been diagnosed with a low to moderate level perinatal mental illness (like postnatal depression or anxiety). We can also support mums when your personal circumstances mean you may be vulnerable to developing a perinatal mental illness.
The service provides support in three ways:
- One to one support by our Mum Befrienders
- Group drop in support
- Workshops and active sessions
Volunteer Mum Befrienders
This element of the service provides women with a dedicated trained mum befriender, who is a mum herself and understands the difficulties you might be facing. Our befrienders are able to offer confidential, impartial one to one emotional and practical support both in your own home and out in the community.
Unlike other services, if you feel you would benefit from our support you can self refer, however do checkout our referral criteria here.
The Cherish Project is a free service our simple aim is to help you have the best possible start with your little one...
